The i-Top dodger design is an innovative modular soft top design with many beneficial features. The i-Top's proprietary frame design is built to counterbalance forces inflicted on it through its unique geometry and utilization of compression and tension to enhance its structural integrity. The hinge points connecting the frame to the deck are pivoting points that absorb any flex or shock inflicted on the canvas dodger and reduce sheer on these connecting points. The tensioned canvas skin on the i-Top is an integral component of the structure and its flexibility is quintessential in reducing or cushioning the initial impact of a force such as a wave or wind. - Provides the skipper and crew with ultimate protection from the elements and increases safety in the cockpit.
- Enables the use of a 60 mil. high quality aircraft grade UV/scratch resistant polycarbonate window material that has the clarity of glass. The rigid nature of the polycarbonate gives windows a solid, distortion-free, wrinkle-free appearance. Windows will remain dimensionally stable with exposure to solar heat unlike clear vinyl windows.
- Incorporates (optional) grab rail sets: side grabs, welded on back grab, aft compression strut grabs, forward compression strut grabs. These grab rail sets significantly increase safety aboard your sailboat.
- The i-tops modular design enables complete removal of window panels to increases airflow through the canvas dodger on hot days. Also, complete removal of window panels makes future maintenance on damaged windows much easier and avoids the need to remove the whole canvas dodger. This saves time, hassle, and costs.
- The i-Top's proprietary window configuration gives a greater wrap-around view from the helm. A greater window area that is unobstructed from unnecessary zipper seams.
- Aesthetically pleasing design maintains an attractive appearance on your sailboat.
- The i-Top is capable of being outfitted with optional sunshade mesh panels in addition to the solid polycarbonate window panels, allowing you to have a breeze, and keep the sun out.

Forward and Aft Material Overlays
The Forward and Aft Material Overlays are a signature design feature of Iverson's and provide your new dodger with a distinctive look. You can choose to color coordinate with your dodger's base canvas color for a softer monochromatic appearance or choose a complementary contrasting color for a more dynamic and defined look. The choice is yours. Frequently, we will use a color that is close to the gel-coat color of your boat. This helps to integrate the canvas dodger form into your boats appearance. To help you match your new canvas dodger to your boat's existing color scheme, you can Build-A-Dodger online. |

Forward Compression Struts with Grab Rails
Increase safety aboard your boat with forward strut grabs. These grab rails are welded-on to the forward struts of your canvas dodger frame which are located on the sides of your companion way entrance. They provide a stable and secure place to grab when entering the companion way during rough waters. These grab sets are available for custom installation with your Iverson's canvas dodger order or can be custom made to your measurements and shipped directly to you. Please call or email for more information. |

Aft Grab Rail
Increase safety aboard your boat with a welded-on back grab rail. This grab rail is welded on to the aft edge of your canvas dodger frame and spans the width of your cockpit. It provides a secure and stable place to grab in the cockpit when in rough waters. Also, the back grab rail protects the aft edge of your canvas dodger from deterioration. When people enter or exit the cockpit they tend to always grab the aft edge of the canvas dodger even if there isn't a grab rail. The problem with this is that over time the repetition of constantly grabbing this edge deteriorates it because of the natural oils of your hands, from the sunscreen, the potato chips, the pressure of someone's weight pushing against the canvas, etc.. If you take a walk down the docks and look at older dodgers with no back grab you will see that this area tends to deteriorate the quickest. Also, from a safety standpoint, being able to wrap your hand around a back grab rail is a more secure grip than
clamping your hand onto the aft edge of a canvas dodger. |

Bolted-On Side Grab Rails
Increase safety aboard your boat with a set of side grab rails bolted on to your canvas dodger. These grab rails are located on both sides of the canvas dodger and are ideally positioned at a height for grabbing when going forward on the deck. They provide a secure and stable place to grab in rough waters or when boarding your boat. These grab sets are available for custom installation with your Iverson's canvas dodger order or can be custom made to your measurements and shipped directly to you. Please call or email for more information. |

High-Quality Welding
Our welders are highly skilled in the art of stainless steel welding. Rather then erasing a weld, we prefer letting the weld bead show off our attention to quality and detail. From welding to stitching, every aspect of our canvas dodger design is meticulously crafted. |

Material Overlay
(clew of dodger)
In reference to the three points of a sail (clew, tack and head) the clew being the lower aft edge of a sail, Iverson's dodgers are constructed to reflect the styling of a sail.

Intricate Stitching
Iverson's production team meticulously sew our canvas dodgers together using our protected* stitch pattern design and technique. It's through the intricate stitching that the unique quality of Iverson's distinct canvas dodger design has become well respected in the marine industry. Our philosophy is that the stitching should accentuate the design aesthetically, as it is a representation of the integrity behind the Iverson's canvas dodger design.

By comparison, the new I-top frame design enables an increased window area from that of the traditional Iverson's canvas dodger design. As demonstrated in this diagram the shaded blue area depicts the window area of the I-top as it's overlayed on the window area of the traditional design. The end result is more of a wrap around window with 25% more viewing area.
